  • The definition of mental capacity and an overview of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Relevant statutory standards and codes of practice for your role
  • Understanding your role and how to assess capacity
  • Defines what Deprivation of Liberty is: - liberty, restrictions, deprivation & detention, the Deprivation of the Liberty application process
  • The types of authorisation and assessments involved in the decision-making process (e.g. Assessors, IMCA’s, Attorney’s, ‘living wills’ and the Court of Protection)
  • Know how to provide individuals with information to enable them to have choice about the way they are supported
