The aim of this course is for delegates to understand the term confidentiality & how it impacts the way we work & maintain information, explore the current Data Protection Legislation & what it means for a care home setting. It will examine the changes to data protection from May 2018 in the form of GDPR in all aspects of information from residents to staff & rights & responsibilities of what the changes mean to the home & information management including accuracy, security, the management of electronic & paper records to ensure full compliance to information governance rules & regulations. Delegates will develop knowledge on issues of sharing data including requests from a third party of data, and examine the potential penalties for failure to manage information/ data correctly.
