Caring for Stroke Survivors

This course is beneficial to employees who care for individuals that suffer from or have a potential risk of having strokes. Attendees will take part in group activities and discuss various case studies to enable them to understand issues including aphasia and dysphagia, anxiety and depression, as well as the physical effects following a stroke.

What this course covers
  • The definition of stroke
  • The functions of the different areas of the brain and how these may be impaired following a stroke
  • The impact of a stroke on an individual
  • Re–abolement and re-learning
  • Specific issues experienced by individuals following a stroke, such as; swallowing difficulties, communication differences, anxiety and depression, nutrition, sleep disorders and mobility

  • Basic awareness: - 3 hours (£220)
  • Advanced Awareness: - 6 hours (£320)
